Coconut Cherry Cookies


  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 3 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup coconut flakes
  • 15 red and/or green maraschino cherries cut in half


Withan electric mixer  cream butter, cream cheese,  sugar and almond extrct untill blended. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt;  gradually add to the creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour

Shape dough into 1 inch balls; roll in coconut flakes. Place on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes  in  a 350 F degresse preheated oven.

 Immediately press a cherry half into the center of each cookie.
