Old Fashioned Lemon Pound Cake


  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons lemon extract


Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
Sift together the flour and salt.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, beat in the flour mixture.
Beat in the vanilla and lemon extract. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven of 350º F for 90 minutes.
